The foundation of Paardencrematorium Westerhout sprang from the love of horses. Our crematorium is completely equipped to emphasize the bond between humans and horses in the final stage of life.
Under stringent regulations of the Dutch Ministery of Health, Welfare and Sport, the market of cremating horses was decontrolled in 2001. This enabled Paul to start working out his ideas, which has finally resulted in the realisation of his Paardencrematorium Westerhout.
The first crematorium in the Netherlands solely meant for horses, has been built with lots of natural materials, which offer an ambiance of robustness and peacefulness. This atmosphere is being enforced by the harmonious integration in the picturesque country estate of Landgoed Westerhout. The building itself offers several atmospheric service areas, e.g. two stables, a euthanasia room, a farewell room and a cosy coffee lounge. There is also a large parking area on the premises, which is of course also suitable for trucks and horse-trailers.
